OUR STORY

Our journey spans decades of travel, observation, and cultural immersion, shaped by our curiosity for the world and the luxury of slow, reflective musings.

Together, these experiences formed the foundation of Open Society, a consciously created fashion and lifestyle brand inspired by people, place, and process.

Open Society is an expression of thoughtful design, storytelling, and connection, shaped by the landscapes and communities that influence us.

FOUNDERS

Our friendship is founded on a shared love for fashion, art, food, nature, textiles, gardening, and the quiet details that shape everyday life.

We originally met in South Australia, through our partners, whose shared love for surfing and the ocean has seen them friends since childhood.

What began as friendship evolved into a creative partnership grounded in shared values, curiosity, and a respect for craftsmanship and the natural world.

ARTISAN PARTNERS

Our small-batch collections are specially commissioned, combining custom contemporary designs with traditional artisanal techniques.

We blend modern, authentic design with time honoured production methods. Each piece is hand-woven and hand dyed by skilled artisans, using sustainable materials with minimal wastage.

Every product carries the mark of its maker, reflecting a collaboration built on respect, skill, and shared values.

APPROACH

Once a year, we create one considered, small-batch collection, allowing space for intentional design, ethical production, and creative integrity.

Open Society is inspired by nature and slowness, conscious that handmade treasures are imprinted with imperfections, energy, and the stories of their creators.

We nurture long term, respectful collaborations with our master artisans, valuing process over scale and connection over volume.

OUR COMMITMENT

We are committed to creating slow, thoughtful fashion with positive impact on people, place, and planet, guided by purposeful design and responsible, conscious sourcing and manufacturing.

Our design philosophy centres on high quality, well-crafted pieces created with design longevity, intended to be worn, lived in, and kept.

Open Society acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present, and future traditional custodians and elders of this land, and recognises the continuation of cultural, spiritual, and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
